How I Work: Bill Gates

I get about 100 e-mails a day. We apply filtering to keep it to that level—e-mail comes straight to me from anyone I’ve ever corresponded with, anyone from Microsoft, Intel, HP, and all the other partner companies, and anyone I know. And I always see a write-up from my assistant of any other e-mail, from companies that aren’t on my permission list or individuals I don’t know. That way I know what people are praising us for, what they are complaining about, and what they are asking.

It’s interesting to learn the workflow of the world’s richest man. I was also surprise to see how ‘normal’ his office is.

One thing for sure, they are doing a good job filtering spam considering that he is the richest man in the world and undoubtedly one of the most popular tech personalities. Imagine the amount of spam he gets daily.

I am working using a dual 17 inch LCD monitor setup and I like to have my email open on the left while browsing and working on the right. Items that I refer frequently is moved to the left screen.

Another separate desktop is sitting next to me. I use it mainly for testing my own software applications and new programs that I do not feel comfortable installing on my main computer.

Well my point is, dual monitors can do wonders for your productivity which of course has nothing to do with Bill Gates. LOL
