I used to be listed in Google's first page search results for the keywords "free mp3", "free mp3 downloads", and even on the second page for the single word "mp3" and many other very competitive keywords! That brought in an insane amount of traffic into one of my sites. The extra Adsense income was very nice even though the site was not optimized for Adsense. I said extra because it's not my main source of income. Then Google changed its algo and my site was dropped from the ranking. But I survived and I moved on. Besides the free Google traffic, getting traffic from PPC and paid means (advertising) are worth looking into to make sure we do not depend too much on one traffic source only. I agree.

See how you go if you get knocked off the front page for your keywords.
