Is Google in the process of updating its index?

I’ve written about the Future PageRank tool recently which queries Google’s various data centers to check for any changes in PageRank values for a given URL.
You’ll normally get the same value from all data centers. However if Google is in the process of updating their PR values, some data centers may show different values.
From this, you might get a glimpse of any upcoming changes in your chosen URL’s PageRank value.
There’s another tool which work the same way but instead, it searches the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) in 48 Google Datacenters.
Each datacenter has the potential to show different results for the same search query.
Seeing results that vary from datacenter to data center, could mean that Google is in the process of updating their index.
