I really needed to read this - my adsense income has dropped in step with my lack of focus and blogging content creation - It has been very frustrating especially since it's summer time and most people our outside and on vacation instead surfing the web. So that compounds the adsense revenue as well.

Thank You so much for the "Kick in The Pants"

My father always said "Pay Attention To Detail" - yeah right - want to pull my hair out everytime he said it - especially since he did not follow his own advice..

Recent other discovery - A friend gave me a DVD set of Donald Trump's Reality Show - "The Apprentice" and usually I just listen to TV while working online - This allowed me to focus on verbal content of his show - Guess what he says most through out the whole season - The word is "Focus"

Thanks,

[...] Finding the right balance between content and ads is important. Too much ads and some people will brand you as greedy, and this is one reason why a blog fails. [...]

Well one way to earn a pretty decent amount of money from blogging is to learn how the big guys play their game. Study how these guys get their traffic, site content and so on.

On the other hand it is not easy as well since to get a good amount of traffic from search engines, you need a hell lot of back links to your site. Your blog has to stand out in a special way so that ppl will link back at you.

Just my two cents :P

That may be true for newbies but I think making a four figure income from a blog is actually suprisingly very easy.

Like anything, blogging requires hard work and time, so does an offline business. The problem with an offline business is that you need a large capital but having a capital does not guarantee you a success either. And there're thousands other variables you need to consider like stocks management, wages, location, rents etc.

But with blogging, you could be making money in your underwear and run it in an autopilot mode. All you need is content, traffic and good monetization techniques.

Let's break it down, four figure income is very very small amount to make annually. If four figures means US1000, then it's only US83 per month or US2.8 per day!! If you can't make that much then obviously there's a lot of basic things that you do not know.

One of my new blogs, only three months old makes an average of US10 daily (it fluctuates) well you get the idea easy it is. IF you know how.

No doubt, there are more that 20 Malaysian bloggers making that much but you just don't get that in the news because people rather keep it to themselves. You know why most people fail? Because they give up.

IMHO, it's better to start a business (if you have the capital)than blog for money. Way too much time and effort is needed just to build up a popular blog. The chances of earning a four-figure income from a blog? Very very small. (Can anyone name 20 Malaysian bloggers earning that much?)Chances of becoming rich from a blog? The odds of winning lottery are better.
