Google Properties Traffic Share

May 20, 2006 by

OK here’s a table from Business 2.0 blog detailing the percentage market share that each of Google property accounts for in relation to all visits to the top 20 Google Domains.

Some say it illustrates Google’s struggle in markets outside of search, or is it really?

In my opinion, whether or not the other properties are struggling is not the point, but what the data actually tells us.

It shows that Google is very much focus on search. They do not have the ambition, at least for now to become a portal. Their focus is always 70% on the core business while 30% on the other stuff.

It’s only a matter of time before the other properties gain some momentum as they become more mature.
