What were your Adsense expectations?
May 26, 2006 by Gaman
There’s an interesting discussion running over at Digital Point forum. A member starts off the topic by asking what your expectations were when you started using Adsense.
Did you “hear from someone” who heard from someone else that it was easy money, that you wouldn’t have to work hard at all? Or did you come in with practical expectations that you’d have to work hard to build up a valuable site and start earning slowly?
I’ve known about Google AdSense since the early days but never really paid much attention to it. The reason was because I was running a popular MP3 website and I knew that Google was not very fond of having their ads displayed on sites like mine.
I didn’t offer anything illegal but some people may argue that linking to sites offering MP3 downloads was against their TOS. It was for informational purposes only as I called it.
Anyway, one day I decided to put AdSense on that site and to my amazement I started making US50 and sometimes close to US100 per day.
That’s how it was during the good old days before Google change its search engine algorithms. Today the site is nowhere to be found in Google SERPs but it still attracts consistent, albeit a smaller number of visitors from Yahoo! searches.
Later I started placing AdSense on my other sites and learning about optimizations along the way. I believe it takes time, hard work and a little bit of luck to build your income with AdSense.
I’ve no doubt that if I can earn at least US100 daily from affiliate programs, I should be able to do the same with AdSense, may be even more.
My target is to earn at least US100 daily from AdSense by the end of this year. Let’s see if this little ‘experiment’ of mine will become a reality. Either way, I’ll write about it in this blog to keep you updated.
Anyway back to the forum topic, there’re many interesting stories posted in response to it. If you are a newbie, I am sure you’ll learn a thing or two from them.
