Google.com is Back Online in China

June 12, 2006 by

Google.com is back online in China after a two-week blockage that had prevented direct access to the site. The company has been criticized for launching a censored version of its site for China at www.google.cn.

From the article:

A Google spokesperson confirmed this, saying that “we have heard no further reports from users in China of problems accessing Google.com.”

On June 6, RSF reported that Google.com was blocked throughout much of China, and that programs like DynaPass and Ultrasurf, which allowed users in China access to censored web content, were also being blocked on a large scale successfully for the first time.

I searched for tiananmen and noticed a site which should have been censored was on the list. It must have slipped pass the radar.
