Google Starts Selling Domain Name Via Google Apps
December 18, 2006 by Gaman
Google Apps for your Domain is a service from Google that lets you offer private-labeled email, IM and calendar account to all of your users.
Actually this service was useless if you do not already own a domain name. But you can now subscribe to Google Apps without owning one or without the need to purchase a domain name from other registrars.
In a partnership with GoDaddy.com and eNom, Google is offering domain registration for $10 a year to accompany Google Apps when you sign up.
Currently they handle .com, .net, biz and .info registrations.
Some people claim that you can buy domains cheaper than $10 per year elsewhere. While that’s true, Google gives you an option to use private domain registration for free. GoDaddy.com for example will charge you $8.99 extra for such service.
Update: You can buy a domain from 1and1.com including Privacy for $5.99
