Then you should have read Guy Kawasaki’s take on it, and I quote

A lot of good bloggers don’t take that kind of thing seriously. Revenue isn’t all that important in blogging when your interest in blogging isn’t making money in the first place.

While I understand where you are going, I am talking about a different thing here if you know what I mean

Adsense would probably work or he might try another form of advertising. But he's not the kind that takes things like that seriously. A lot of good bloggers don't take that kind of thing seriously. The fact is that if you don’t make money, you can’t support yourself as a professional blogger. But this guy is not Darren Rowse and he’s not a pro blogger. The point of this post is that AdSense does not work for everyone.

Or whether money is that important to you than blogging. Come on, this is Guy Kawasaki. I’m not all for Apple…but he wrote the book (literally) on spreading the word of mouth.
