Nobody's saying about "depending" on employer.. most of us who do part time blogging while also being employed at the same time are making decently nice amount of income on the net as well. In most cases, the income that we get online are even more than our salary pay each month. No, we're not depending on employer. The only difference is we get to socialize and ripe skills if we go to work... get out and get some fresh air baby. Even if one can make huge money online but sacrifice their social life, that i don't respect. I respect those people who can make huge amount of money but at the same time are well-balanced in their daily lives. I'm not opposing one to become a problogger. If you can manage to do that while keeping your social well-being (a.k.a not turning urself into a weirdo)..then by all means do it. Just make sure you don't stop playing sports or go out to parties. And remember that as a fulltime blogger, it won't be easy on your part, say, if you go to banks to make a car loan / apply credit card and tell them "hey.. my main income is from blogging, can i apply this?". I would suggest though, that instead of becoming a full time blogger, it is better to be a full-time internet entrepreneur that explores e-commerce, web applications, and other types of "real" internet ventures, while only using a "blog" as a tool... not as the "main thing".

If you're getting the same income or more from your current salary, why not full time then...agree with jibone that might as well we blog full time rather than facing your office PC from 8 - 5. You could blog and learn lots of stuff, such as internet marketing, during that period.

I wish I could blog full time. As I'm already sitting infront of my computer screen all the time, thus making me a weirdo, I may as well gain some income from it.

I agree with Joneh. Why not become a pro blogger? A part-time blogger like myself earn quite a good income, and I could only imagine how much more I could earn if I go full time! So, yes, I'd do it too, someday..

I actually respect those that make a living off blogs ONLY, however since they are basically on the PC most of the time i feel most bloggers should concentrate diversifying their income by managing sites, selling sites, affiliate marketing, etc.
quite dangerous to place all eggs in a single basket.

I'll say it depends on how good your day job is and also how much u earn from blogs. If you are earning 2-3 times your job, I'm sure the next time the boss scolds u or gives u a hell of tasks, you would definitely readily resign your job.

Working full time blogging does have its benefits too where you can work as hard as you can and see results while if you work for others it might not be the case.

Then there's this socializing issue. Well one can readily go and join communities or clubs and if you work long enough, workplace ethics(pointed out by pablopabla) are more or less the same everywhere. As long as you still have friends to drink kopi with, this should not be a problem hehe.

My two cents though :P
