The Reason For The FeedBurner Subscriber Numbers Increase

February 18, 2007 by

If you have Feedburner running on your blog, you may have noticed a considerable bump in subscriber numbers over the past few days.

Before you start celebrating for the newly found popularity, there’s a reason for this. Feedburner has started counting the number of Google Reader and Google Personalized Homepage subscribers which they were having problem reporting previously.

Google Reader has made some changes to have their crawler reports the number of Google users subscribed to a feed, and in the future this may include other Google products that support feeds.

While your ‘real’ subscribers number remains basically unchanged, it does give a small ego boost for a few days especially if you are experiencing a significant increase like that of ProBlogger.net where it went from 11,000 to 18,000 literally overnight.

How I wish I had that number LOL.
