Perez Hilton is not a blog, it's owned by AOL and has a team of writers and press people. TechCrunch is certainly no blog, it's more of a headline aggregator. It's almost a 'scraper', it just formats the content in ways that are useful. It depends on your perception I guess, but a blog is usually one person writing about something passionately is their own style. It's not a big company, a team or writers, or something mainstream media can just "tap in to..."
