How to Use Smart Keywords to Search Any Website Right From the Firefox Location Bar
July 18, 2007 by Gaman · 9 Comments
Here’s another cool tip for Firefox I came across recently. If you have a favourite website where you search frequently, a feature called Smart Keywords will let you search that website right from the Location bar.
Let say you are always curious to know any blog’s Technorati ranking and you visit Technorati.com all the time to do the search. Normally, you go to Technorati.com and click in the search box and enter domain name and click Search .
Smart keyword will make these steps redundant. To create a Smart Keyword for Technorati.com, visit their page and right click on the search field.

I’ve written a couple of articles about making money with AdSense and this one is no difference. But this time, I’ll talk about tricks that seldom get mentioned anywhere. Learning about making money from AdSense is a continuous process and it doesn’t stop after we read an article or two.
Some of these tips might be new to you and some may be not. I hope this article serves as a reminder on things you can experiment with to improve your AdSense click through rates.
How Top Bloggers Earn Money
July 17, 2007 by Gaman · 7 Comments
BusinessWeek has written an interesting article about how the top bloggers are making money. 14 bloggers are featured in the article; these include ShoeMoney, Darren Rowse and Perez Hilton.
Another well known blogger featured in the article is Michael Arrington of TechCrunch who’s reportedly making $200,000 a month from his blog.
A few of the bloggers are not necessarily what I called well-known, and many do not belong to the Technorati 100 club. There are a few that are making around $5000 monthly.
I guess the article is not about the most popular bloggers out there but how bloggers in general are making good money from their blog.
What’s Your Biggest Problem When It Comes to Blogging?
July 16, 2007 by Gaman · 13 Comments
One of the best posts you can write about is one that solves the readers’ problem.
If I could identify the most nagging problem faced by my readers, I can write more about it or rather how to solve it. I reminded myself to only write useful posts and each day I try to come up with something that will solve a readers’ problem.
So this blog is going to be more and more about what you can learn about blogging and WordPress, making money online, software tips and tricks, and interesting news from around the Web. It has been that way before but now I’ll ensure only good quality articles make the cut.

July 16, 2007 by Gaman · 7 Comments
So you have been blogging for a while and now wonder if there’s anything you can do to improve your blog besides changing the theme. Well, here are 10 ideas you can improve your blog usability and users experience.
- Remove Clutter
If your blog looks like a giant billboard; it’s time to do some clean up. The most important element on your page is your message. Multiple image ads, links and graphic are all secondary elements to your blog existence. They will only make your users confuse. Add more white space, and remove ads that don’t make you money. This will also make your pages load faster.
Add Keyboard Shortcuts to Your Firefox Bookmarks for Quicker Access
July 16, 2007 by Gaman · 5 Comments
If you’ve been spending time on the Internet for any amount of time, I am sure you have a handful websites or blogs that you visit daily for a dose of information or inspiration. For most people, typing the domain name in the address bar or lunging for the mouse to access the bookmarked site would be the routine.
Those who are a fan of keyboard shortcuts will be happy to know that you can actually access your bookmarks faster using a nifty feature in Firefox which allows you to give a bookmark a shortcut.
See Google Search Results By Country with Google Global Firefox Extension
July 14, 2007 by Gaman · 5 Comments
RedFly Marketing has released a Firefox extension that let you see what searchers in other countries are seeing for a particular search.
You can also use it to compare organic search results in different countries or if you want to see how your AdWords PPC campaigns appear in different regions.
Previously, I’ve been manually appending &gl=country to the query string in my search URL to view the search results in a particular country. For example, if I want to see who are paying for the keyword “free stuff” in the US, I constructed the following:
Installing Kontera WordPress Plugin Would Risk Getting Your Blog Penalised By Google
July 13, 2007 by Gaman · 17 Comments
I was reading JohnChow.com when I came across a post about a plugin for Kontera from Shupe.ca. The developer claims his plugin will help Kontera publishers install Kontera ContentLink on their blogs easily
As a Kontera publisher myself, I could see how this plugin facilitates Kontera ads integration into my blogs. Since I was planning to install Kontera on several of my blogs and didn’t fancy tinkering with the code, I had decided to give the plugin a try.
Once activated, I noticed that the plugin was installing extra code into my blogs footer in addition to Kontera ContentLink code. However, the extra code was hidden with Cascading Style Sheet (CSS).
How to Set AdSense for Search to Search Your Site by Default
July 13, 2007 by Gaman · 8 Comments
When you set up the AdSense for search with SiteSearch enabled, the search box will default to web search instead of SiteSearch. It’s likely that most users who use the search box on your site use it to search pages within your site, not the Internet.
To set the search box to search pages on your site by default, visit the ‘AdSense Setup’ tab in your account and select ‘AdSense for search’ as your product. On the code generation page, you’ll see a sample search box under ‘Search box style’ that changes as you customise the layout.

Like most software, you can access all of Mozilla Firefox features via the menu bar or the in context popup menu with your mouse.
However, sometimes using a mouse actually slows you down. The precious seconds it takes to move you hand away to move you mouse can add up over the course of a full day. You can save time and avoid reaching for the mouse if you are familiar with keyboard shortcuts.
The following keyboard shortcuts will make web browsing with Firefox even more fun and productive.
