How to Make $500 or more Per Month From Text-Link-Ads.com – Guaranteed!

August 15, 2007 by

If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you know I’ve written several articles about text-link-ads.com (TLA).

I like TLA because of its low maintenance while allowing me to make money without interupting the user’s experience.

If you haven’t signed up with TLA, click here to do so.

Unless you have a high PageRank blog with a good amount traffic to boot, it’s likely that TLA only brings in a couple of dollars to the table, perhaps less than $50 per month.

For the record, I don’t make more than $500 per month from TLA myself, at least not yet.

This is not too surprising considering that blogging is just one of the things I do to make money online. I am unable to devote as much time as I’d like to help me improve my TLA income quicker.

Anyway, here’s how I plan to increase my TLA income.

TLA offers a convenient way to generate a passive income stream from a blog. As long as the blog is up and running, and if advertisers continue to purchase links from it, you’ll make money regardless of how often the blog is updated.

So how do you make $500 or more per month from TLA?

Create a blog in a specific niche that’s good enough to attract advertisers. Once the blog gets a Google PageRank (PR) 2 or higher, you’ll be eligible to register with TLA.

A link at a PR2 blog could potential sell for $5. Having 10 of these will make you $50 per month. I know, a blog with a PageRank 2 is unlikely have its text link inventory sold out but for argument sake, let’s say it did.

With one blog making you $50 per month, all you have to do next is create nine more in different niches. 10 blogs could potentially make you $500 per month easily. That’s just from TLA, I haven’t even mentioned AdSense and others programs.

Yes, I know what you are thinking. This is easier said than done.

How are you going to find the time to manage and churn out quality content for three blogs, let alone ten? Well you don’t have to. As I said earlier, TLA allows you to generate a passive income stream as long as your blog is up and running. Let me give you some examples.

I’ve several blogs that I’ve stopped updating due to time constrain but they continue to attract advertisers and make money from TLA. One of them is Portable-CD-MP3-Player.com. PCMP has several loyal advertisers that continue to renew their ads month after month.

Another relatively new blog that I’ve set up earlier this year is SoftwareBusinesBlog.com. I know I should have spent more time working on the blog because I think it has a great potential. Anyway, with only three posts so far, the blog manages to attract one text link advertiser. Adding more articles and doing some promotion would certainly help the blog in attracting more sponsors.

If I have several of such blogs, it’s not difficult to see how they could collectively generate several hundreds if not thousands of dollars per month from TLA. Now I am not suggesting that you stop updating your blog or ignore its content entirely. Unless you are a professional blogger, I know it’s hard to find the time to manage multiple blogs while maintaining their quality.

So how can you find the time to update the other blogs? The secret is to outsource the writing to ghost writers or invite quest bloggers to contribute. You could come up with an arrangement to split the blog’s AdSense revenue or let them keep 100% of it while you make money from TLA.

One place you can find cheap writers is at Rent A Coder. Other not-so-cheap places are

On average you could pay $5 per post depending on the post quality and length. It’s up to you to make sure you only get original and good quality articles from the freelancers. You could have 20 well written articles for $100 and post them in your blog one at a time.

Obviously, there are some initial expenses involved and you won’t break even right away but think of it in the long term. If a blog generates $500 per month from AdSense and TLA, spending $100 per month for articles will still give your $400 profit. With 10 of such blogs, you could be making $4000 per month.

If you decide to use this method, you’ll have to trade in quality with quantity for some of the blogs.

As for me, I’ll continue to make sure Sabahan.com maintains its quality and will never outsource the writing here. The other blogs are created with the sole purpose of making money and outsourcing the content is a must if I want to have more time working on my other projects and create good quality content for Sabahan.com

I don’t think a PR2 website can easily get into TLA. Earlier this year I tried to register a PR3 website but was told that I would have to wait until the site has better Alexa ranking.

Unless something has changed, it’s not as easy to get into TLA as you claimed.

Did you check the examples I’ve given? I’ve done it with a PR2 and PR3 blogs several times. Perhaps your need to create a blog serving a smaller niche.

Of course your aim SHOULD be to improve your PR and Alexa rankings as much as you can. If you are rejected, try again next time.

There is no guarantee you will sell any links. I have sites that have never sold links despite being in the same niche as other sites that have sold several.

To get your target I would suggest you need to double the amount of blogs.

Exactly. Check out my other article here – perhaps it could improve the odds.

BTW, I managed to sell TLA in all of my blogs even those with PR2. Go figure ;)

You need a PR4 to get into TLA. There is another program that does the same thing, has a higher payout percentage (they keep less of the advertiser money) and they allow blogs with lower PR. Visit my blog (click my name) and check the skyscraper to the right. I will be doing a review of their service later this week.

Who says you need to have PR4 to get into TLA?

Did anybody actually check out the examples I’ve given? LOL.

I guess this post is not about how to get accepted into TLA, but how you can make money once you are accepted.

Like gaman says you don’t need higher PR to get in TLA programs. You can register anytime with certain criteria. Got to check it 1st

I agree but then again this post is not about making money from PR2 blog. Rather how to make more money when you are accepted into text-link-ads.com.

Obviously some blogs with higher PR will make more while those with lower ones will make less. For example, you won’t need 10 blogs to make $500 if you have five PR5 blogs or higher when they all attract advertisers.

It takes time but it’s not impossible.

The rich will just get richer… We have to get a certain recognition of page rank before we are eligible for text link ads… By the time we have a few page rank, we could actually make use of it for a better cause because of a good searchable site…

I’ve never had much luck with TLA. Once I listed a site with them that was PR4 and getting 12,000 hits per day in key categories (tech, gadgets) – and I never got a link sold.

To follow up my earlier comment – I enabled TLA to try them again on my site, and then came across some posts regarding “Dropped Text Links Ads”. I found that basically what Text Links Ads does (allow people to buy pagerank) is not only unethical – it completely violates Google’s Quality Guidelines. That would probably explain why text-link-ads.com doesn’t even rank for the phrase ‘text link ads’ any more (they have a google penalty). I wrote an entire article devoted to this here: Google Penalty for Using Text Links Ads.

I am not using TLA now at all – I’ve disabled everything. My google search rankings mean more to me than $50 per month. I had 2 google penalties on 2 sites and it took me 90 days to come out, and I sure don’t want to go back!

it’s well known that in chinese blogs, TLA is hard to earn, even those with high PR.

You cannot guarantee that the TLA will sell on the viewer and most of the viewer are now aware on what they have to read or not.

It’s very easy to think you’re not smart enough to do it. But it is doable.

I joined with a PR2 site (just a random personal blog) ages ago and have been making about $40USD (almost double that in AUD), my advertisers have just recently started backing out as I have been updating the blog less.

I signed up but they said the traffic wasn’t high enough! I’m getting over 2500 unique hits a month!
