Show Me Your Desktop
October 15, 2007 by Gaman
I’ve seen bloggers showing off their desktop so I thought it would be fun to show mine here :). I am a multi-monitor user and wouldn’t have it any other way. With such setup, I have more screen estate to work with.
My two 17 inch LCD screens provide me with 2560 x 1024 resolutions which is plenty of space for multitasking. It eliminates the intermediate click when switching between two windows because I can have them opened simultaneously side by side.
While the dual 17 inch setup does meet my current needs, I am planning to upgrade to dual 21 inch sometime soon. This will definitely improve my productivity further by reducing scrolling and windows resizing, which I often do repeatedly when designing a webpage or programming.
Here’s a screenshot of my desktop. Click the image to view the actual size.
Obviously nothing too exciting to see here LOL.
The background picture is the default desktop picture that comes with Windows Vista. I don’t really bother customizing my desktop appearance as long as it’s practical. If I like it then it will stay there for sometime.
My frequently used applications are placed on the Windows Sidebar for quick access. I’ve also installed other gadgets such as Calendar, Notes and CPU Usage, nothing fancy.
Because I work online, Firefox is the most used app followed by Microsoft Outlook for emails, Yahoo Messenger (use it to listen to online radio and chat with my contractors about projects), Words, Dreamweaver for web design, Adobe Photoshop, and WinSCP for FTP.
Besides the above, I used to work with Visual Basic development tool a lot when we were developing new software. I have another computer which I used for testing purpose and learn Linux and a laptop that I seldom use.
PS: If you wonder how my workplace looks like, here a picture of it

That’s a picture of my cat caught clicking on my AdSense ads.

I’m curious. But I’m not so surprise at your desktop. It’ll come as a shock if it’s full of cartoon characters. lol
Great bro, I love the cat, he/she ? Just like my cat, but mine is younger. Btw I saw u were top-ing another machine too.
The cat likes to go out a lot and we let him do as he likes.
“top-ing” sorry what’s that?
PS: Oh yes I got what you mean. Yes just checking my server and ran “top” on the other machine.
haha..wait till you saw my cat, he is big! Cartoon characters? where where?
Ooohh..an insight into Sabahan’s personal life. Hmm LimeWire also got ah?
So..would you recommend Vista to the rest of us? Are you happy?
Yea just re-install LimeWire a few days ago. About Vista, check out my review here:
