Successful PayPal Withdrawals with Public Bank Visa Debit Card!
August 15, 2008 by Gaman · 53 Comments
A couple of days ago I tried withdrawing PayPal funds into my Public Bank Visa Card.
My planned was initially to test the withdrawal process by transferring a smaller amount but since many people have reported that they’ve successfully withdrawn funds into this card, I upped the amount to US500, my daily withdrawal limit.
The process went through without glitches.
Withdrawal dates from Paypal
The funds appeared in my Public Bank account in 3 to 5 days. Notice the increasing amount as they arrived in by Public Bank card account which was obviously due to the weakening Ringgit against the US dollars. I was making RM20 more in a matter of days due to the forex fluctuation.
Unlike some people who are probably hoping the Ringgit weakening trends to reverse, I on the other hand accept this with open arms, and actually quietly hoping the trend will continue (up to a point of course)!
Third Ad Slot Sold!
August 15, 2008 by Gaman · 6 Comments
I’d just like to thank Benny of BennyLiew.com for purchasing the third ad slot at Sabahan.com sidebar.
The price of an ad purchase includes a mention in my post to give my advertisers extra visibility and exposure to their website or service. This applies to any ad purchase including slots on the sidebar, top banner or inline.
So here I am recommending the good Benny’s Blog
While Benny write about many things in his blog, around 60 percent of those are dedicated to photography. So if you are into photography (or perhaps looking for a photographer to capture moments of an event) it’s worth checking out Benny’s blog.
Thanks Benny!

6 Ways to Add More Hours in Your Day and Make More Money at the Same Time
August 13, 2008 by Gaman · 19 Comments
Contrary to what some people may think, multitasking does not always improve efficiency. You’ll be more efficient when you can focus on a single task for a period of time.
I spent several minutes trying to come up with an attractive opening paragraph for this article, instead I ended up answering emails, fixing the Rules & Alerts in my Outlook, registering for an affiliate program, checking my sites stats and viewing my Text Link Ads commission.
And as if that’s not enough, the Yahoo Messenger dialog pop up as a friend initiated a chat – ok if you are reading this I am not blaming you my friend
– but I still haven’t came up with anything
!
The only consolation from all this is that now I have a story to tell in the opening paragraph!
Second Banner Ad Slot Sold!
August 9, 2008 by Gaman · 9 Comments
Barely a day after the first ad slot was approved; another slot was snatched up by Ben of WorldRec.Info. Thanks Ben!
In his blog, Ben writes about the unconventional world records with a twist. Records that according to him are probably not available in the Guinness Book of World Records or Ripley’s Believe It or Not.
For a dose of unconventional stories to beat the office or work boredom I suggest you check out this blog.
So far I’ve made around USD50 – minus the PayPal payment fee of US1.15 for each banner purchase – from direct ad deals.
Ideally, I wish this happened without me lifting a finger but sadly that’s not the case if you consider the work involved in upgrading Sabahan.com template, the cost of the template & plugin purchase as well as all the previous efforts I’ve put into maintaining and establishing trust in this blog.
Sabahan.com Is Now Accepting Direct Advertising
August 8, 2008 by Gaman · 16 Comments
The new design for Sabahan.com has been completely rolled out and Sabahan.com is now able to accept direct advertising from interested parties.
With this I am able to determine my own rates, cut the middle man and have more control regarding how and which ads to display… finally!
One ad spot as you may notice has been taken by nyst.wysrt of Xerrascope as the first direct advertiser at Sabahan.com. As a token of appreciation, I wish to thank him for the purchase and I would like to recommend my readers to check out his blog: Xerrascope
What Do You Get For Advertising At Sabahan.com?
In addition to having your ad displayed on all pages, all new advertisers will get a mention in my blog post to ensure that you will get more exposure with maximum returns at nominal cost. Compare that to a review on this blog via ReviewMe.com, which will cost you at least USD100.
Sabahan Bloggers Gathering 2008
August 3, 2008 by Gaman · 36 Comments
The well organised event took place last night at the glamorous 11th floor restaurant of the Imperial Hotel Kota Kinabalu overlooking the South China Sea. The bands were cool, food was delicious, and everyone was looking groovy.
There never was a dull moment when the lively DJ Selina and her sidekick took the stage as the MCs for the event.
Obviously, everything would not be possible without the hardworking organizing committee – the lovely Jacq, Gallivanter (Da Dude), Wei Chuen (you are tall), KadazanBonita (so anggun), PapaJoneh, Impedius, Julian and Farah. I think I chatted briefly with Julian (or was it Impedius). Anyway, hats off to them. I imagine it would be a hard one to top.
Meeting fellow bloggers including Sabahan.com readers face to face was an interesting experience. I’ve met Don (apparently he is one of my subscribers), Lorna (I thought you looked familiar even before we chatted), Pinolobu a.k.a Ben (I already knew you), the famous Elphege Godomon the TV3 reporter.
Making A Living Off The Internet From The Rainforest of Borneo
August 1, 2008 by Gaman · 18 Comments
I had been trying to come up with a nice tagline for Sabahan.com that describes what this blog is all about.
My previous tagline was
About Computers, Blogging, Making Money Online, Marketing and Interesting Stuff
After launching Sabahan.com v2.0, I changed the tagline to
Internet marketing, blogging and everything in between…
While both taglines pretty much sums up what I do and write in this blog, it lacks the originality that I wish to convey that makes this blog stand out from other blogging and marketing blogs.
Anyone, anywhere in the world could have written this blog but not many people from Sabah in Malaysia (formerly known as North Borneo) blog about their experience making a living off the Internet while literally doing it from the rainforest of Borneo.
Public Bank Visa Electron Limits PayPal Withdrawal to US500 Per Day
July 31, 2008 by Gaman · 23 Comments
Most Malaysian PayPal users are probably aware of the US500 daily withdrawal limit imposed by PayPal. It’s probably a non issue to the majority of users.
However what if the amount you want to transfer is larger than USD500? That’s what happens to me as I am trying to transfer some USD3000 plus to my Public Bank Visa Electron card.
I’ve started receiving payments to my PayPal account from the commissions I earn from MaxBounty. I opted for the PayPal payment because MaxBounty converted my commission checks into the equivalent Malaysian Ringgit but at a lower exchange rate than what I would normally get over the counter.

By the way, if you are interested in making money promoting pay per lead programs, MaxBounty is one network that you should consider. The payouts for certain campaigns are sometimes better than what you would get from other networks. They even have offers targeted to Malaysian. Personally, I’ve been making around USD500 monthly from MaxBounty, not much I know but good enough for a passively generated income.
Sabahan.com v2.0 Is Now Online
July 30, 2008 by Gaman · 32 Comments
First off, welcome to Sabahan.com version 2.0!
For me changing my blog template isn’t as easy as changing clothes. OK, technically it is that easy but if you change your blog template that often, you risk disorientating your regular readers and your effort, whether intentional or not, in trying to establish a brand for your readers to associate with will be wasted.
That said, change can be good as long as you don’t over do it.
Now, this is actually the first time I’ve changed Sabahan.com template since it came online in February 2006.
My main motivation for selecting this particular template isn’t because it allows me to allocate more space for advertising like what Rice Bloggers has commented in my previous post. No my friend
It just happens that I’ll be able to set aside specific section in the sidebar for that purpose.
Coming Soon: Sabahan.com v2.0 On A Screen Near You
July 28, 2008 by Gaman · 16 Comments
I’ve been working hard testing and customizing a brand new template for Sabahan.com. If everything goes as planned I hope to unveil the latest design, the latest tomorrow.
Since I plan to sell advertisement directly, regular readers may notice more ads on the sidebar. However the content section will remain like it is now with one inline AdSense rectangle ad.
I am also interested in incorporating a new, professional looking logo for Sabahan.com. Since spending some money hiring a designer to do that isn’t something that I’m looking forward to, I’ve decided to design the logo myself.
I was looking for inspiration when I stumbled upon this rather inspiring and informative article from evernerve.com
The new Sabahan.com logo design was based on the ideas I got from the article… let see if my logo designing skill is up to the standard
