How’s Your AdSense Income So Far for the Month of October?
October 16, 2007 by Gaman · 41 Comments
About on the same day when Google reduced my PageRank, I started seeing a drop in my daily AdSense revenue. Up till today, I’ve earned 30% less than that of last month income. The downward trend is evident from my daily AdSense earnings as you can see below.
Several people over at DigitalPoint Forum have reported similar experience where some see $30 per day reductions and some seeing worse.
My AdSense stats tell me something is happening behind the scene. Does this have anything to do with the recent incident where Google ran amok reducing PageRank all over the web?
Check out my daily income in September and October below and note the difference in the daily income.

Google AdSense Payment via Western Union Is Now Available to All Malaysian Publishers
September 29, 2007 by Gaman · 46 Comments
About a year ago I wrote about Google running a pilot involving some Malaysian AdSense publishers getting their AdSense payments via Western Union Quick Cash.
I was one of lucky Malaysian publishers to be selected for the pilot and I’ve been getting my AdSense payments via Western Union Quick Cash ever since.
Western Union Quick Cash is a payment option that lets you receive your AdSense payments in cash via the worldwide Western Union money transfer service.
The best thing about it is that – no more long clearing time, which is often over a month associated with checks deposit to cash out your AdSense payments. It’s also cheap – well it’s free for the pilot participants anyway. I am not sure whether a fee will be introduced when this payment method is out of pilot.
How to Setup AdSense Revenue Sharing on a Blog with Multiple Bloggers
September 27, 2007 by Gaman · 20 Comments
Running a blog can be fun. Then for whatever reason, you started creating another blog, and then another until the fun part begin to fade as the demand to delivery good content and finding time to maintain those blogs begin to take their tool.
I myself maintain several blogs in various niches ranging from Internet marketing (this blog), internet security, personal finance to funny video blogs.
Keeping my blogs up to date and interesting has been a continuous challenge. That’s without considering my other Internet ventures in affiliate marketing, software development, forums and so on. Sometimes I wish I have several “gamans” to help me out.
How a Malaysian Made US2746.56 from AdSense in August 2007
September 24, 2007 by Gaman · 35 Comments
I was browsing Alang’s blog at Blog Webmaster Malaysia when I came across a post about the highest income he had earned from AdSense in a day.
Alang was one of the few Malaysians who have been very successful with AdSense. He used to make between $3000 to $4000 from AdSense in 2005. The most he has made from AdSense in a day was $144.74. Unfortunately, he no longer earns as much these days.
As you can see from the screenshot below, the highest income I had made from AdSense in a day was $394.14. I guess I was lucky to get high paying ads in combination with some good traffic. These days I make anywhere from $500 to $800 from AdSense monthly, a far cry from what I was making in the past years.
My Latest Blogging Projects and a Chance to Supplement Your AdSense and Affiliate Program Income
September 21, 2007 by Gaman · 14 Comments
Some of you may recall that sometime in May 2007, I’ve made an announcement to invite interested bloggers to contribute related articles for some of my blogs.
In return, I’ve promised to pay the bloggers via an AdSense revenue sharing arrangement where they would keep 100% of the AdSense income generate by their own posts.
So far I have had several interested bloggers contacted me but only one decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, our discussion didn’t materialize and nobody took up the job offer in the end.
I’ve created two more new blogs and finding contributors becomes more of a priority now if I want to keep these blogs alive. In addition to the requirements I’ve stated in my earlier post. I’d also like to mention that
New AdSense Ad Test Unit Spotted
September 21, 2007 by Gaman · 7 Comments
I don’t usually write about any AdSense ad that appears out of the ordinary which obviously is undergoing some testing.
However a few minutes ago I spotted an interesting AdSense format for the medium rectangle that appeared at Sabahan.com so I might just give it a mention.
Someone had actually spotted this ad format in early August and started a discussion thread at DigitalPoint.com.
As you can see below, besides the normal ad text, the unit also contains related words at the bottom. It looks a little cluttered but the novelty factor would probably help in increasing its click through rates.

Are you more likely to click on such AdSense unit?
How Much Money Did You Earn On Your First Day Running AdSense?
September 17, 2007 by Gaman · 40 Comments
A member at DigitalPoint Forums asks how much did other members earn from AdSense on their first day.
Most members reported they earn nothing, but a few earn a couple of dollars.
If you have a brand new website, it’s normal to earn nothing or a couple of bucks for a start.
My first day with Google AdSense was on Friday, September 12, 2003 where I earn $0.27. It wasn’t a full day. The real earning was made on the second day where it jumped to $37.73, then $32.51 the next day, and $45.04 the day after.
It was so easy to make money from AdSense because I had an existing high traffic website which allowed me to make money right away.
Unfortunately the good times ceased abruptly when Google changed their algorithm. This affected the site’s daily traffic and ultimately its income suffered.
New Features Highlights for Google Reader, AdSense & Search
September 14, 2007 by Gaman · 9 Comments
I’ve been busy for the past few days planning and negotiating with the contractor on my parents’ house extension, which is probably evident from the patchy posting frequency you might have noticed for a couple of days.
Anyway, I’ll continue to update this blog as time permits.
I’d like to mention a few new features that have been added into several of Google’s applications these past few days.
Google Reader Search
If you are using Google Reader as your feed reader, you’ll be happy to know that they’ve just added search. This feature is one the main features I’ll look for in any feed reader.
Basically, you can search your feed right from the Google Reader interface. So, let’s say you recalled that I once wrote a tutorial about AdSense blend strategy. Without going to Sabahan.com, just enter the keyword into the search box and you’ll get what you are looking for.
My Internet Income Report for July 2007
August 2, 2007 by Gaman · 58 Comments
Everyone (well more and more bloggers anyway) seems to be revealing their blogs’ income nowadays, following a trend started by John Chow Dot Com. If there were others who had chosen to reveal their blogs income before John Chow, I am not aware of them. Those that I know of didn’t go into as much details as what John Chow is doing.
I know how much you make is your own business so many bloggers prefer not to reveal their earnings.
They prefer to keep quiet about it for several reasons including the fear of being copied by others, or they don’t want to be perceived as bragging, or they don’t want to attract competitors which will affect their own income in the future.
Sometimes being discreet can be more intriguing as people are drawn to you, waiting for you to spill the beans.
How to Boost Your AdSense CTRs with Colour Palettes Blend, Complement and Contrast Strategies
August 1, 2007 by Gaman · 7 Comments
The Blending Technique
When it comes to optimising AdSense, blending is one of the most widely used techniques to increase click through rates (CTR). Blending involves tuning the AdSense unit background and border to match the background colour of the page.
Further blending involves matching the colour of the ad link to the colour of links on your page and the colour of the ad text and ad URL match to the colour of the page text colour.
You can see this technique mainly used here at Sabahan.com as shown below. Click the image to see the larger version.
However, depending on your page design and colour scheme, blending won’t always work to you advantage. In some situation it actually lowers your CTRs as the effect of ad blindness increases. You can try reducing this effect by using a lighter or darker shade of ad link colour to that of your page links.
