Job Announcement: Blog Content Writers Required
May 13, 2007 by Gaman · 7 Comments
I’ve several blogs which I authored myself. They were fun to write in the beginning but sadly as time progresses, it got harder for me to keep the momentum going and find the time to research and add new content into these blogs, perhaps evident from the dwindling posts quality.
Rather than letting them drift off slowly into the Internet oblivion, I’m going to give them a second chance to achieve Internet glory
To do that, I’ll need your help.
I have an immediate and ongoing need for blog writers to contribute daily in three of my blogs below:
SiteMeter and Google Analytics Rolling Out New Versions of Their Stats Tools
May 10, 2007 by Gaman · 3 Comments
Sitemeter has rolled out a new version of its traffic stats tool today. Besides the obvious interface redesign, those using the free basic version probably won’t notice many changes under the hood.
However, several upcoming features were announced recently though there’s no mentioned which ones will make it into the basic version.
- Demo Reports
Find out exactly what the demographics of your site visitors. - User Interest Reports
Learn what categories of content people are reading when they are not on your site and find out what your visitors’ real interests are.
Make Money From YouTube & Other Online Video Sites
Here’s another way how you can make money from online videos. Magnify.net is a service that allows you to create your own video site from videos you found on YouTube, Metacafe, AOL Video and others.
You can also upload your own video and create a branded video channel that you control. Here’s an example of a Video Channel created using Magnify.net
Magnify.net provides upload, storage and free bandwidth. You’ll be able to create your own video community and generate revenue through Google AdSense or Revver.com.
So how do you actually make money from this?
Domain Suggestion Tool: Find Out If a Domain Is Available As You Type
If you are looking for a new domain name, there are several services out there that could help you zero in on the right domain name.
One of those services is Domains Bot. To use it, all you have to do is type in the words that match your concept of what you’re looking for and click “submit”. As you time, some suggestions will appear below the search box including an indication whether they are available or not.
Domains Bot could suggest hundreds of domain variations unlike some other domain suggestion tools which offer a much limited number of suggestions.
Blogger Discovered LHDN e-Filing Security Vulnerability
April 11, 2007 by Gaman · 7 Comments
You know I’ve always wondered how secure the LHDN e-filing system was. When the publics’ private and confidential info is involved, there’s no excuse for them not to build a robust, scalable and secure system.
With a mantra ‘Mudah Tepat Selamat’ (Easy Accurate Secure) – one would expect they have done rigorous testings to ensure the system lives to its expectation.
Unfortunately, Rickey of WattaHack has written an alarming post regarding a serious security flaw he discovered while filling his tax returns via LHDN e-Filing recently.
Gov.My - The Malaysia Government’s Official Portal
March 30, 2007 by Gaman · 2 Comments
www.gov.my is a website created by the Malaysian government to help members of the public access a host of government websites and obtain information ranging from payment to complaints, applications and services and more.
The website links to 395 online services of ministries, departments and agencies and 3,300 Government forms are available for free download.
The range of information on offer is mind boggling and because of this it is important to have them arranged in an intuitive ways. Currently I think the main page is a little over-crowded. There’s no single focus to guide users to help them find the info they wanted quickly and easily. Every element competes for attention and this lowered the usability of the website.
Most Viewed Pages from Wikipedia
March 13, 2007 by Gaman · 2 Comments
Here’s a tool you can use to find out the most viewed pages from the English Wikipedia. You can adjust the number of list and the date range to see what’s popular at a particular time.
It’s no surprise to see that some sex related pages occupy the top positions although most of the pages seem to coincide with the current popular event and TV series.
You can use this tool to keep track of what people are looking for and perhaps create a content based on those popular pages and monetize them. But I am not suggesting that you start creating pornography pages.

March 8, 2007 by Gaman · 2 Comments
Your blog is down and you don’t know about it until a few hours later. Each second your blog is offline, you lose visitors and potential income.

Well to help you do that Blog Flux has created a new tool for bloggers that allows you to track the uptime of your blog called Blog Flux Uptime Tracker. This tool checks to see if you website is online once every 60 minutes and keep your uptime record for the past week, month, quarter, year and lifetime.
Alexa Introduces New Traffic Features
February 20, 2007 by Gaman · 4 Comments
Alexa recently introduced new traffic features which offer more granular view of your blog’s or website’s traffic.
Alexa now reports where your site’s visitors are from geographically.
From the stats, I now know 48.4% of Sabahan.com’s visitors come from Malaysia and 13.5% are from the US.
One way how this can be useful, you can use it to convince advertisers where the majority of your visitors are from. This new data can also be useful to potential advertisers. It will help them to size up an audience before making an ad purchase.
Bye-bye Bloglines… Hello Google Reader
January 6, 2007 by Gaman · 4 Comments
For no apparently reason, Bloglines, my previous favorite feed reader stops working today. On the Feeds tab, everything is missing except the Additional Features section. That’s a good way to lose a user like me.
On top of that, my Internet connection is still crawling like a snail and intermittently cut off while I browse the net. When this happens I restart my ADSL router hoping to regain connection. When that fails, I just have to step away from the computer, and do something else.
