Google has released Google Earth 4 Beta , with SketchUp integration and an improved interface.

The software now supports OS X and Linux. Both version were released simultaneously for PC and MAC.

Google has also updated their database:

  • Increased global coverage by four times.
  • 20 percent of the landmass of the entire globe is covered with high resolution image. That means about 1/3 of the earth population can now see their homes in high resolution, according to Google.

The city of Kota Kinabalu, Penampang and its surrounding area which were previously shown in a low resolution, cloud covered landmass are now in higher resolution! Oh yes, for the first time ever we can locate people houses in this part of the world via Google Earth. This would be a jaw dropping surprise for some of my friends who are not familiar with Google Earth.

There high resolution data is also available for Google Desktop 3 users.

In addition, you can now import 3D models from Google SketchUp to Google Earth.

i wonder how recent are their images and how often do they update it. The pic that you’ve shown shows, amongst others, that the building next to Centre Point is not only not built yet; the land it’s now on is still functioning as the old bus terminal. That’s like….years ago!!!

That means, news houses will not be shown; hence, I cant show off my property yet, 🙂

Yes it’s not unusual for Google to use data from 2/3 years ago.

Anyway, wow I am impress.. never know that it’s your house they are building next to center point. Don’t forget to invite when it’s ready 🙂
