Adsense tips – improve your 300x 250 ad performance

If you are using the 300 x 250 Medium Rectangle Adsense ad format, you might be interested to learn about the optimization tips published by the official Adsense blog recently.

Here’s the summary:

  • Enable image ads support. As a result, more ads will compete to show on your site and in turn, this increases your site’s revenue potential
  • Place the ad into an article and above the fold.
  • Use channels to test performance.
  • Change your color schemes to improve CTR.

    I also like the idea of using “chameleon” type ads that change color each time the page is loaded.

    This is a good way to combat ad-blindness in repeat visitors.

    Yea I am aware of that trick. But it does not work for 300×250 very well. If it appears deceptive, Google may consider it against their TOS, so got to be a little careful.

  • Additionally, you can place image near the adsense ads to improve the click through rate.
