Find Out How Often Your Blog Is Offline

Last modified on 9th March, 2007

Your blog is down and you don’t know about it until a few hours later. Each second your blog is offline, you lose visitors and potential income.

You can find out whether your web host is good or otherwise by monitoring how they maintain their uptime guarantee.

Well to help you do that Blog Flux has created a new tool for bloggers that allows you to track the uptime of your blog called Blog Flux Uptime Tracker. This tool checks to see if you website is online once every 60 minutes and keep your uptime record for the past week, month, quarter, year and lifetime.

They use 23 different servers located around the world to make sure your site is accessible everywhere.

I haven’t tried it yet but my first impression tells me this tool could be useful. My only gripe is that the check frequency could be higher.

I am using two services to monitor my sites. I use Internet Seer free version and Pingdom.com paid service.

Talking about offline sites, if you are a frequent visitor to this blog, you may have noticed that the blog has been down more frequently in the past few weeks. If you are unfortunate enough to have visited this blog while it’s offline, I apologize.

It’s frustrating for me too as I might have stretched my dedicated server capability to its limit. I am currently looking for a new dedicated server and have now shortlisted a few.

Hopefully in the next few days, the frequent downtime will be a thing of the past.

Used to happen a lot when I was on this terrible web host called VizaWeb. It can be really frustrating especially when you’re expecting an influx of readers coming in for some special event or something to that effect.

Cool suggestions. Worth checking them out.
