Have You Experienced A Significant Increase in Your Blog Traffic from Google Recently?
Posted on 18th May, 2006
I noticed yesterday two of my blogs have received more traffic from Google since yesterday.
While my blogs traffic always fluctuates (sometimes they get over a thousand visitors per day) they have never before received such a massive increase in Google traffic in a short amount of time.
One of them which is about four months old gets over 150% more traffic than usual and the newer one which is less than a month old has recorded its highest traffic ever.
What makes it more interesting is that both blogs were experiencing the increase on the same day.
Apparently I was not the only one who hase experienced this. Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.net had received emails from three separate bloggers regarding this issue. He points out to the possibility that the infamous ‘Google Sandbox’ might have been updated.
Google sandbox is the term use to describe where new sites get placed when they are first indexed by Google. It’s speculated that these sites that are sandboxed do not rank at all or do not rank highly in Google’s search engine results.
At some point, however, they are let out of the sandbox and suddenly all their pages appear in Google’s index and those pages can rank much more highly in search results.
So was Google updating its sandbox? Nobody knows except Google.
Is the sandbox effect real? I recently thought it didn’t exist.
Well, that’s the topic I am going to write next.
Here’s my traffic stats for those blogs.
This last one is a kind of a neglected blog.
