I noticed today Kahsoon.com traffic has gone up from the usual 20K per day, to a meteoric high of 40K and then dropped again to a ‘depressing’ 15K yesterday, all within the span of one month. That’s a very significant drop in traffic if you ask me.

If I were the owner of Kahsoon.com, I would be worried by now, probably scrambling around trying to figure out what’s happening.

This likely has to do with the change in Google algorithm, the Big Daddy update. It may had dropped many pages from its index starting from 14 May while at the same time allowing other pages to fill in the void and gained higher ranking due to fewer competitions.

On the same date, several bloggers started to experience an increase in their blogs’ traffic. While I personally have experienced an increase in my blogs traffic, I do not see an equivalently dramatic drop in traffic for the past few days.

Check out PaulTan.org traffic. As we can see below, something happened on the 14 May but his traffic has stabilized more quickly than Kahsoon.com.

It looks like Google ranking is stabilizing and started to re-include previously dropped pages.

So what can we learn from this? Well, do not depend on a single source to get your traffic from, in this case the Google search engine. The change in its algorithm can wipe out your traffic over night.

Anyway, I hope Kahsoon.com will manage with less traffic. I wish him luck, if he could recover from this, it’s even better for him.

Observers: Using small and hiddent text is a classic technique of search engine spamming. This is illegal and this could be why Kahsoon is being penalized by Google if he practice this technique.

Let me know about the page, I’ll report that to Google.

encik fakap:what? kahsoon is a victim of content theft? hahahaha you make me laugh!! He IS the content theft in the first place, the other blog just follow his example. Talk about setting example hahahaha

Yes sir, you are darn right

i dont like kahsoon. He’s a bum. He does not reply emails and he likes to email people with link exchanges. Then a few months later, he will delete the links on his site. He’s a big Con man.

  • Gaman says:

encik fakap: I am aware of that possibility. But it would be better if you could support your argument with links to places the he have copied from

Kahsoon had said so in my one the forums that I came across. I just want to make you aware of that post. Whether I believe him or not, that’s a different story all together.

You make me laugh also LOL. Read carefullylah next time friend. Obviously you haven’t read my other story about him. NVM.

Could you provide like 10 links for a start to show us examples? It must be easy if he is a massive content thief.

“CypherHackz: I think I’ve answered that question in the post. Kahsoon also reported that he has been a victim of content theft and as a result his pages are dropped from the search engines.”

  • […] Recently, I noticed one of the most heavily trafficked blog in Malaysia was suffering from a massive lost in traffic within a week period. Later, I found out another blog with exactly similar content, post by post, which might have something to do with the traffic lost suffered by the first blog. […]

From what I know, if you are the original content provider, your pages will remain in Google index and those that steal your content will suffer lower ranking. The reason is because Google can detect the original page from the date it’s posted.

And this bring me to my second point…

Observers: Using small and hiddent text is a classic technique of search engine spamming. This is illegal and this could be why Kahsoon is being penalized by Google if he practice this technique.

As for your second question, copy and paste from where?

About including search keywords. I think he is using a plugin to extract those keywords from the search engine query string. I don’t think it’s illegal at the moment but that’s not to say the search engine won’t change their policy in the future.

It could be happening right now.

Kahsoon is a colourful character apparently. I googled him and found all sort of stories about him.

  • Observers says:

I came across kahsoon website back in 7 – 8 months ago when I tried to search for a key word. Upon landing on his site from Google, I could not find what I was looking for. So, did a search on that page using CTRL + F.

To my surprise, the key word was actually hidden using a small white colour font at the end of the page. The list of the key words was tremendously long.

    My questions:

    – Is it against any search engine policy to do so – to list all the popular key words in the website?

    – Will copy and paste website like kahsoon stay forever? Sorry, I do not consider it as a blog at all.

    – If you look at the end of each post, he has included search key words used to look for their particular article. Again, has he breached any policy in this case?

Sad to say, in my opinion, for the time being, Paul Tan (http://www.paultan.org – automotive), Jeff Ooi (http://www.jeffooi.com – Politics) and Kenny Sia (http://www.kennysia.com – funny personal experience) are the real bloggers and each of them stay in what they do the best. Upcoming new bloggers like Mun (http://xfile007.blogspot.com – fitness and health) are catching up.

At the end of the day, we need to find a niche topic which we blog weith passion before we go for the money.

40K visitors? Thats great! But how it can drop to 15K…

  • Gaman says:

    Fashionasia: Google 🙂

Jerry: His sitemeter was accessible publicly, not anymore.

Paul Tan: That’s more like it. 🙂

Katana: Thanks for the info. I guess he has noticed this post.

Pinolobu: Sorry, I prefer to keep my stats private for now. I might make it public someday. If you should know, I do not have the same amount of traffic as those blogs, at least not yet. Give me a few months and I can show you something then hehe

s for your second question, yes that’s right.

Return visitors usually subscribe to a blog. Blogs with lightweight content such as jokes and funny videos attract fewer subscribers and get most of the traffic from search engines.

Check out my other blog at http://www.offbeatenough.com. It gets triple the traffic of Sabahan.com but fewer subscribers. Check out liewcf.com, it gets much less traffic than Kahsoon.com but more subscribers.

Check out the comments section too. Some blog types (funny video/jokes etc) do not engaged the readers to switch to the reading mode and thus fewer comments.

  • pinolobu says:

on another note: you mean, hi traffic sites like kahsoon.com should depend heavily on search engines to earn viewership, instead of just relying on “return customers”, i.e. those who already has his site in their bookmarks/bloglines etc?

  • pinolobu says:

kahsoon, as well as some other bloggers like jeffooi and shaolintinger, makes (or now used to) his sitemeter public.

gaman, can you pls do so too?

  • Katana says:

public viewing of http://www.kahsoon.com traffic has been disabled…

  • Paul Tan says:

my traffic spike was from the Naza 206 Bestari launch.

  • Jerry says:

Sorry but where did you get the statistic graph?

  • Fashionasia says:

how the heck do you get 40k visitors per day??!!!
