Why link exchange arrangement is good for your blog
Posted on 18th March, 2006
There are many benefits to having other people linking to your blog; one of the obvious ones is the free traffic that you’ll get. Other benefit includes increase credibility and Google PageRank. PageRank plays an important towards your ranking in the search engine results. Although its importance in Google search algorithm changes from time to time, it’s nevertheless still important to have off site links to ‘vote’ for your blog.
Getting links from other blogs with similar themes will also increase your blog ‘authority’ in that niche which will likely contribute towards your search engine ranking.
Before I contact potential link partners, I add their links first into my Partners page as a good courtesy gesture.
I’ve been busy contacting other blog authors for link exchange suggestions today, 19 of them to be exact.
I am not sure how many will decide to link back to me but if they do, that’s good. At the time of this writing, frittle has linked back to me a few minutes after the mail out. Thanks frittle!
If they link back to me, there’s also a good chance for them to link to your blog too so you might want to try asking them for link exchange, if you are currently doing this.
But make sure not to spam them with unrelated requests. It would be better if you have a technology related blog so that both of your visitors would benefit from the link arrangement since both your blogs belong to the same niche.
My link exchange is an ongoing effort which I’ll write more about later. Perhaps I should give out tips on how to go about looking for potential link partners, how to write an email that get the response, and what not to do when conducting a link exchange and so on.
In the meantime, you can learn how to setup link page on your blog.
While I am on it, why not add your link to my Partners page? 😉
